Xiomara Suescún
Centro Nacional de las Artes Delia Zapata Olivella, Director
I am a cultural manager and manager of organizations in the cultural and creative sector.
Sociologist, political scientist with a specialization in International Relations and specialist in Creative Writing. I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Management of Cultural and Creative Sector Organizations at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I have more than twelve years of experience in the design and coordination of sustainability projects and policies, associativity of organizations, governance of cultural ecosystems, circulation and internationalization of sector agents, promotion of a creative destination, and promotion of participation and articulation with communities in urban and rural areas.
Through my work I seek to create references and networks of innovation, fair exchange and cultural sustainability for Latin America and the world, thus promoting the dignity and recognition of creators and the artistic ecosystem in general.
My mission is focused on fostering social dialogue, access, participation and the enjoyment of the cultural rights of citizens and communities.
In my position as director of the Delia Zapata National Center for the Arts and its Teatro Colón in the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge of Colombia, I prioritize the establishment of an institutional model to ensure that this is an infrastructure for life and that the dignity and cultural diversity of the entire territory and the performing arts, the living and expanded arts of the country, are recognized in all their greatness; that it also leads a National Network of Theaters and Cultural Scenarios to promote the circulation and exchange of knowledge and the connection between the regions and the world.
I work to make the CNA a space of encounter and cultural agitation. Home to citizens and creative communities that dialogue with memory and the future.
I am a focused person and I aim to create collective work initiatives. I have a vocation for the sector and I make things happen; always integrating the gender perspective and the intersectional approach.
In my personal life, I am an author and I enjoy reading fiction and creative writing, listening to live music, dancing and watching movies, and especially discovering art that inspires me.
