
Diana Rico

Diana María Rico Muñoz is an artist, filmmaker, chant keeper, temazcalera and Chanupa bearer. Co-founder of 4Direcciones Audiovisual in 2006, she has worked creating television series, international documentaries and expanded art projects that integrate contemporary technology and ancestral practices. From 1998 to 2012 she hosted CineArte for Canal Caracol. Her work El Origen de la Noche, an immersive sound installation, was exhibited in Paris, Mexico and Bolivia, and acquired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art where it received close to 10,000 visitors in 2023-2024. Since 2022 she leads 4Directions Collective, developing works such as Hezy, Guaca Roja XR, Carnaval La Chica, Altar Sónico a la Coca, and presenting Altar XR and Guaca XR at HKW Berlin, winners of national grants. Diana researches co-creation with non-human entities and contemporary ritual design. She is currently continuing her research on hybrid altars at MIT OpenDocLab.
