Elorik is the name that alludes to a fictional character with whom Juan David Ríos Matallana felt a great affinity when he was a child. Through a mixture of rhythms and verses that blend into this so called Hip Hop, there is no other intention than to say everything that is considered important in this life and that, otherwise manifested would be nothing more than the words of a random guy.
In 2015 comes out the first physical and digital work of the artist, titled “Mientras pasa el tiempo” produced and mixed by Fontecha Estudio. This work gave rise to present the music in various spaces, as well as working with other artists of the local scene.
For the year 2019, the EP titled “Zazen” is released, which shows a more mature, spiritual and reflective facet of the artist to the rhythm of boombap. Thanks to this record work, Elorik had the opportunity to present and disseminate his work through various media, as well as participate in several concerts and events with important artists of the local and national scene.
By 2020 and thanks to the reception that the EP had among the artist’s public, a circuit of events is organized in Mexico City, which are carried out until the moment where the sanitary emergency declared for that time allowed it. During the time after the global situation, the artist launched several musical and audiovisual projects that allowed him to stay connected with the public through his networks.
Likewise, he was invited on several occasions to virtual events, and even to private concerts when the live music industry was reactivated. Elorik’s third album, entitled “Kintsugi” (2022) featured collaborations, not only with DJ’s and artists of the national scene, but also with the work of several graphic artists and audiovisual producers. Thanks to this project he had the opportunity to be in Hop Hop Al Parque 2024 as a district artist and in many other district and national spaces.
This year (2025) a new EP will be released, titled “Girasoles”, which was worked on with a producer from Paisa called “Mao Mancini”. In addition, work is being done on the artist’s first double album, entitled “2 Lobos”, which will be released at the end of 2025 and throughout 2026.
