Carlos Nevárez
Carlos Nevárez currently stands out as a singer-songwriter, arranger, composer, guitarist and pianist and has become known with Si tu me quieres, Curarte and No Me Comprenden. This song is the title track of his album released in April 2020.
In 2016 he was part of the group Plena Libre where he spent a year learning the rhythms of the bomba and plena. This same year, after finishing his commitments with the band Plena Libre, he debuted as an artist outside of Puerto Rico in his first media tour presenting his first single “Dime” in Colombia where he visited the cities of Bogota, Medellin and Cali. Then, in 2017, he was lead singer of Charlie Sepúlveda y su Big Band.
2018 would be a great year as it would open his first opportunity to present his live show in front of hundreds of people at the Grand Forum in Mexico City where he shared the stage with La Sonora Ponceña and LaSpanish Harlem Orchestra.
His outstanding participation in the phonographic work “La Esquina del Bailador” by Pete Perignon gave him the first opportunity to be nominated for the 19th Latin Grammy of 2018 in the category “Best Salsa Album”.
In the summer of 2019 he returns to Colombia for his second media tour where he presents the single “No me comprenden” which gives the name to his album project that he would release next year and only months later he returns to Mexico to perform live for the second time at the Teatro Ferrocarrilero in the CDMX in front of an audience that already knew him.
After the pandemic, Carlos Nevarez returns with a powerful salsa release with hints of the salsa of yesteryear. Nevarez, along with Manolito Rodriguez, starred in “Duro De Roer” in October 2021. The immediate response to the joint venture was felt through comments from fans on their networks alluding to the sound, freshness and hundreds of thousands of “plays” on digital platforms. This same year he participated in a collaboration with Jay Laboy and Segarra Music releasing the song “La Cuarentena”. This release surpasses the success of “Duro De Roer” with more than one million plays on Spotify and thousands of views on YouTube.
The year 2022 welcomed him with a third visit to Mexico where he continues to solidify his fan base. In 2023, he brings a proposal dedicated to the dancing public in his single “Se Está Regando” where he mentions his beloved public in Cali, Colombia and highlights the rhythms of Cuban timba in a song where he highlights the importance of his parents and his fans in the development of his musical career. This song gave him the opportunity to perform in Italy in June 2023, at the Miami Salsa Congress in July and for the first time in Cali, Colombia in October where the public sang loudly all his original songs.
2024 began with the release of a new single called “Huellas”. A song with a theme that oscillates between love, sadness and hope in landscapes of magical realism. A collaboration with Segarra Music that led them to “chartear” in the best salsa positions in the FM radio of Puerto Rico. After touching hearts with “Huellas”, the summer of 2024 heated up with an electrifying rhythm and party lyrics in “No Para”. A composition by Nevárez himself that invites all of Latin America to a non-stop party.
November 2024 surprised us with a “story time” where he explained the history of his release “Cortesía” in that same month. A mix of romantic salsa with hints of Cuban timba that sails among the seas of tragicomedy.
As usual, Nevárez begins the year with a firm step and a romantic single composed by Nevarez himself called “Panorama” where he describes the so called impossible loves that are so commented on but that, “when the desire to love is greater than the circumstances, love always wins.” This time accompanied by a
Hollywood style string orchestra orchestrated by the genius of film music Emmanuel Segarra and a band arrangement by master arranger and fellow singer Carlos Garcia.
