BITUIN
Colombian band that recreates Latin American music influenced by jazz, folklore and avant-garde music. It is formed by two pairs of brothers, Santiago and Daniel de Mendoza on drums and double bass, and Juanita and Valentina Añez on vocals.
In his first albums (Entre Tu Pueblo y Mi Pueblo 2014 and Paisaje Abierto 2011), Bituin has mixed the melodic and lyrical of the Latin American popular songbook, with the risk, the love for dissonance and the avant-garde spirit of experimental music.
In their third album (Lluvia en el Maizal, 2018), while including traditional songs from other Southern Cone countries, they mainly explore works by contemporary Colombian composers. Bituin has more than 60 concerts in Jazz and World Music Festivals, auditoriums and other venues in Colombia, Sao Paulo, Barcelona, Quito and Berlin.
In 2021, the quartet releases the EP Divina Cosecha with a South American repertoire inspired by the spirituality and sacredness of the ancestral cultures of Latin America. In 2023, they release their first live album, Sesiones Opa!
