The emergence of generative AI in music presents both creative opportunities and urgent challenges regarding rights, attribution, compensation, and bargaining power for performing artists. This roundtable by the AIE Artists’ Society proposes a discussion on how to build a sustainable and fair music ecosystem, where technological innovation does not undermine artistic/performative work or diminish human value. Examples will also be presented to highlight the opportunities that generative AI offers to musical artists.
