Sara Zozaya is one of the most distinctive voices in the new Basque music scene. Since the release of her first EP in 2018 — recognised by Mondosonoro as one of the best demos of the year — the Donostia-based artist has built a universe of her own, blending lo-fi, experimental pop, minimalism and Basque tradition. She has released one LP and several EPs, as well as collaborating with leading artists such as Benito Lertxundi and Valdivia. Her career has been marked by constant growth, taking her to festivals including Primavera Sound, Eufonic, BBK Live, ArcTanGent (Bristol) and Sharpe Festival (Bratislava).
The emotional depth of her work and her ability to transform her most intimate memories into complex soundscapes have established her as one of the most prolific and distinctive talents of her generation.
“Attä” is her latest release. Released on November 11 by Catalan label Aloud Music and co-produced with artist Ke Lepo, it presents a new sonic landscape shaped by immersive synthesizers and hypnotic atmospheres that enhance the evocative quality of her voice.
This new repertoire is presented live alongside an audiovisual performance. The artist engages in a live dialogue with visuals created in real time by video artist Itziar Garaluze. Garaluze has worked with artists including Mon Laferte, Amorante and OrekaTX and is a regular collaborator on Sara Zozaya’s tours.
The result is a show of striking aesthetic and emotional intensity that places Sara Zozaya at a defining moment in her career, expanding her artistic vision from Euskal Herria towards an increasingly broader international scene.
