María José Llergo

Singer

María José Llergo (Pozoblanco, 1994) is much more than a rising star of Spanish flamenco singing. She is an established artist with an innate ability to move audiences and evoke emotions, driven by an unwavering artistic commitment. She naturally bridges tradition and the avant-garde, bringing a universal vision of flamenco to audiences of all kinds. Her music is in a constant state of renewal and evolution, reflecting her adventurous spirit and her desire to take on new challenges by exploring new sonic territories.

A multidisciplinary artist who sings, composes and plays several instruments, she has continued to grow since launching her career in 2018 with “Niña de las dunas”. Her appearance on COLORS, the audiovisual platform featuring artists such as Dua Lipa and Jorja Smith, helped turn her music into a global phenomenon. She later released her EP “Sanación”, showcasing her personal, innovative approach to blending flamenco with ambient electronic textures while paying tribute to her roots.

In “Ultrabelleza”, her latest album, resilience and struggle emerge as the emotional foundations of a radiant, joyful outlook. It is a life-affirming rebirth fuelled by empowerment, reflecting a process of artistic and personal maturity that feels both natural and admirable. The artist from Pozoblanco experiments fearlessly and reimagines established conventions. This boundary-crossing album, both in form and substance, draws on a wide range of influences that come together in a sophisticated explosion of sound, with love and empathy as the essential tools for progress and change. In this sense, the album unfolds as a reflection of the ideal world she envisions, one that is more equal and just, while also offering shelter and a safe space for anyone who feels they do not fit into traditional social norms.
