What role do our roots play in artistic creation? How can an artist engage with tradition without becoming trapped by it? This conversation brings together women whose work is deeply connected to their roots, whether cultural, musical, linguistic or geographical. From flamenco and traditional music to singer-songwriter traditions, each has found her own way of reinterpreting inherited legacies and turning them into a contemporary language. Through their experiences, we will explore identity, transmission, memory and evolution, looking at how tradition is not only preserved, but transformed every time a new generation makes it their own.
