Axolotes Mexicanos

Artists

There are some bands in history that are described as seminal because they are the starting point for a vast branching network of bands and sounds. When Olaya, Juan, Stephen, Lucas and Mario ended up coming together in AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, they could never have imagined that the band would serve as a springboard for them to achieve success in a whole range of parallel projects. Hold on tight: CAROLINA DURANTE, CONFETI DE ODIO, TEMERARIO MARIO, Stephen Please, NO FUCKS... And the list doesn’t end there.

But if there is one band today that can be seen as a living symbol of the outrageous and impertinent rebelliousness attached to the most irreverent side of youth, it is undoubtedly AXOLOTES MEXICANOS. They are capable of soaking up J-Pop, manga, Marvel, the most deranged punk and Hammer horror films, and turning it all into a collection of undeniable, immediate bangers. They can go from relentless pounding beats to thunderous guitar riffs, from the most fractured and syncopated electronic rhythms to the purest, catchiest melodies. Always with a cynical, sometimes even aggressive, sense of humour.

The soundtrack to a generation, a mirror in which thousands of new bands see themselves reflected, with a stunning live show built around a repertoire featuring hits such as “Disparo De Amor”, “Doble Check”, “Cara De Idiota”, “Que Te Pires” and that much-talked-about version of “Renai Circulation”, which has caused quite a stir among anime fans. Because Olaya and the rest of the band are clear that theirs is not a case of paying homage to sounds from the past. They set their own path, step by step, and after almost ten years of experience, they can proudly say that they have gained in solidity and punch without losing an ounce of freshness or irreverence.

Because there is no band like AXOLOTES MEXICANOS, and there never will be. But their very existence has been the seed from which many more have grown. As we said: seminal.
