Ashleys

Artists

ASHLEYS is a Madrid-based quartet that has found its own way of telling stories through guitars, immediate melodies and a straightforward attitude. Somewhere between power pop and indie rock, they write songs that hit quickly but hide much more than meets the eye: everyday stories shaped by desire, disappointment, friendship, the night, and that mix of euphoria and chaos that seems to accompany almost everything that matters.

With songs such as Las Flooores and Torreznos y Larios, the band has gradually developed a distinctive identity, driven by pop instinct, upfront guitars and a close, direct way of writing that can find something extraordinary in seemingly ordinary situations. There is humour and irreverence in the way they look at the world around them, but also a sensitivity that gives their voice a generational quality.

Their latest release, Habladurías, takes this language in new directions, moving through psychedelic rock alongside pop, Spanish theatre and echoes of Portuguese and Brazilian popular music. It shows a band increasingly unwilling to stay within clearly defined boundaries. Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by David Baldo at El Búnker de San Crispín, the song expands Ashleys’ musical universe without losing the immediacy that has been part of the band since its beginnings.

They are now presenting one of the songs that has received the strongest response in their live shows. The world of Dead Poets Society enters the Madrid quartet’s universe with Oh capitán, mi capitán, a song that highlights their more melodic side. With bright riffs, catchy choruses and a sense of nostalgia that eventually gives way to the desire to keep moving forward, the song continues to expand the trajectory of a band that has made everyday life and the seemingly simple one of its greatest strengths. Produced by David Baldo at El Búnker de San Crispín, it is another preview of their debut album, which they will present in October.

This character finds one of its most natural expressions in their live shows. Built around songs made to be shared, their concerts create an atmosphere in which the distance between the band and the people in front of them tends to disappear.
