    A conversation with...

    Edoardo Chavarín en BIME Bogotá

    Music industry services

    Komunikatu

    Music industry services

The impact of generative Artificial Intelligence on the music industry is sparking a profound debate about its role and implications. On one hand, generative AI is emerging as a powerful tool that can expand the creative possibilities for musicians. Artists can use AI for inspiration, to sketch song ideas, or even to produce complete compositions. Carmen Páez, Undersecretary of Culture for the Government of Spain, explains:“AI is yet another technological revolution. It’s a reality we are already living in. It’s here. Ultimately, it’s a tool that serves creators and helps them express themselves.” However, AI’s ability to generate music that mimics specific styles and genres raises questions about copyright and originality.Who owns a piece created by AI? How can we protect the rights of artists whose works have been used to train these algorithms? These questions lie at the heart of the debate over how to regulate AI in the music industry. In this context, legislation plays a key role. Figures like Carmen advocate for regulation that focuses not only on the technologies themselves, but on how they affect society and creative processes. “We are not regulating the technologies; we are regulating how technology impacts society and creative processes. Our goal is to protect citizens.” The principle of transparency—which requires disclosing the works used to train AI and stating when a piece has been created by AI—is a measure aimed at protecting both creators and consumers. This transparency is essential to maintain public trust and to ensure that artists receive proper recognition and compensation for their contributions. In conclusion, Carmen Páez argues that a proper regulatory framework is needed—one that balances innovation with the protection of creators' rights. International collaboration and consensus on regulations will be key to ensuring that AI is used ethically and for the benefit of all stakeholders. Thus, the challenge lies in integrating AI in a way that enhances creativity without compromising artistic integrity and intellectual property rights.

Diálogos Idoia Mendia - Adriana Moscoso

    Music industry services

The cultural and creative industries are among the most dynamic economic forces in the European Union, generating over 13 million jobs. In this essential conversation, MEP Idoia Mendía explains why this sector deserves legal and labor protections that match its economic and social impact. Her analysis touches on everything from growth potential to the pressing challenges faced by cultural workers in today’s digital landscape. This episode explores the tension between creativity and market forces, diving into key topics like fair copyright laws, exploitative buyout clauses, the lack of transparency in streaming, and the responsibilities of both European institutions and Spain’s new Ministry of Culture. Mendía emphasizes the urgent need for public policy that guarantees fair working conditions, supports cultural diversity, and reinforces long-term industry sustainability. In a rapidly evolving digital market, this conversation provides essential tools for rethinking the cultural business through a lens of ethics, equity, and strategy. A must-listen for professionals, policymakers, and companies committed to building a future where cultural creators are truly valued.

Conversations: Cynthia Flores, Albina Cabrera e Itzel González

    Music industry services

    Recorded music

    Komunikatu

What began as a casual conversation at BIME 2021 turned into one of the most inspiring collaborations in the Latin alternative music industry. Cynthia Flores, Albina Cabrera, and Itzel González are three professionals with complementary paths who decided to join forces to build new platforms, elevate emerging voices, and promote a more inclusive and diverse ecosystem. From their respective fields —communication, curation, and production— they are driving projects that cross borders and amplify the musical identity of the Global South. This episode highlights the power of community as a force for transformation within the music industry. The collaboration between these leaders shows how genuine connections, rooted in active listening and mutual respect, can lead to initiatives with real and lasting impact. Through efforts like Sonido Live México and their work with Vive Latino, independent artists have found ways to reach global audiences, access new markets, and build networks that strengthen cultural ties between Latin America and Spain. The story of Cynthia, Albina, and Itzel shows how sustained collaboration between professionals can spark deep changes in the way we discover, share, and value music. This conversation invites us to see alliances not just as programming strategies, but as tools to build a more connected, supportive, and committed industry for emerging talent.

Exporting and discovery of Spanish Music

    Music industry services

Music sharing is part of the daily work of publishers around the world. In this way, music travels and allows artists to find new audiences outside their home country. There are structured workflows to ensure this export, such as Global Curation Groups, which focus on music genres on a global level. In Spain, given our strong connection to Latin music, this also translates into genre committees where Latin and Spanish editors share the most relevant releases of each week with export potential, as well as the trends occurring in their local markets.
