Musikhaus Thomann is a retail company based in Germany, specializing in the sale of musical instruments, studio equipment, professional audio, and lighting. It rose to fame thanks to Thomann Cyberstore, its online sales portal.

According to an article published in 2014 by the Fränkischer Tag, one of Bavaria’s most important newspapers, Thomann is the largest retailer of its kind in the world.

Hans Thomann founded the company in 1954 as a family business in the town of Treppendorf, located in the Bavarian municipality of Burgebrach. The company’s headquarters remain there, and it is still family-owned.

Since 1990, the company has been managed by Hans Thomann Jr., representing the second generation of the family. Since 1997, Thomann has sold its products through its own website.
