Eva McBel began stepping onto stages at the age of 16, first performing covers and soon after writing her own songs. After moving to Madrid at 18, her career started to take off, with her first shows in some of the city’s most emblematic venues. Surrounded by a circle of emerging musicians — many of whom met at the iconic Búho Real — she released her first EP, Some Kind of Portrait, in 2020. The record quickly caught the attention of the indie music press and earned her the “Best Artist” award at the Premios de la Música Aragonesa.
Mostly singing in English, with a sound somewhere between Jacob Banks and The Lumineers, her music crossed borders — appearing in Australian TV series and on U.S. radio.
In 2021, in the midst of the pandemic, she began working on her debut LP, I’m Glad You Happened, released in January 2023 under the production of Bela Transa. The album helped her music travel even further, featuring in international shows such as Neighbours and The Ferragnez. In Spain, her songs have appeared in hit series like Élite, By Ana Milán, NACHO, La edad de la ira, and XHOXB.
With I’m Glad You Happened, Eva McBel toured across Spain and even performed abroad, including at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. In 2024, she returned to captivate audiences at Búho Real, after selling out Café Berlín, and later performed at SanSan Festival and Sonorama Ribera.
Now based between Spain and London — where she has already impressed the Sofar Sounds crowd — Eva McBel is working on new music to be released in 2025 with Emerge Producciones. Writing and producing her own material, her upcoming singles “Mr. Moneyman” and “Be Patient” are just the beginning of a new chapter, one that promises to carry her English lyrics even further across the ocean.
