Beyond reggaeton, “Latin” in global culture has become a cultural system that produces codes, business models, narratives, and a distinct aesthetic. Those who are on the ground building music and party scenes—like Perro Negro—as well as the amplifiers of those stories, such as Complex, represent two sides of an interdependent duo in today’s conversation around Latin culture.
 
We explore how, through these two channels, Latin culture moved from being a trend to becoming a global language.
