AHMED EID
Ahmed Eid blends cultural musical traditions and social struggles. A masterful multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter, Eid bridges gaps in alternative music communities, offering unique perspectives to the global music scene and an unwavering commitment to nurturing emerging talents, as reflected in his initiation of the “”Palestine Music Space”” in Ramallah, a education and recording space that stands as a beacon of hope and creativity for young musicians in Palestine.
“”Aghani Akhira “ أغاني اخيرة (Last Songs) is the title of Ahmed Eid’s debut album. The album’s 7 songs speak the true story of the fictional characters’ real-life experiences in Ahmed’s two realities, Palestine and Berlin. The works are articulated from a clearly anti-colonial and anti-patriarchal perspective, yet always remain graphic and deeply poetic.
For this project, ILYF is translating the arrangements of the album “Aghani Akhira” into a band sound, using a wide array of musical toys, including an oriental keyboard, electric mandolin, and all kinds of bells and whistles.
ILYF is a Berlin-based band composed by two of the Bukahara co-founders, violinist Daniel Schneider and bassist Ahmed Eid with the drummer Kuba aka Badkuzu joined by the keyboard player Allysa Grace Martinez. Collaborating for over a decade they have been the heart of many different bands and projects spanning a plentitude of genres and styles. Their concerts feature an eclectic harvest of music leaning into psychedelic groove, traditionally infused Arabic songs as well as delving into improvised adventures, organic funky jams, m cuddly breakdowns and sequenced electronic dance music sounds sourced from the depths of the Berlin rave scene.
