Justin O'Connor

Justin O’Connor is a global cultural policy expert, providing many keynotes, reports and articles for organisations involved in a wide range of cultural activities. Professor of Cultural Economy at Adelaide University, Visiting Professor at the School of Cultural Management, Shanghai Jiaotong University. Between 2012-18 he was a member of the UNESCO ‘Expert Facility’, supporting the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of Cultural Diversity.

Justin recently published Culture is Not an Industry, to wide acclaim, and previously Red Creative: Culture and Modernity in China (2020). He is currently completing a report on the The Future of Germany’s and the EU’s International Cultural Relations in a Multipolar World Order for the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa).
